Biology Study Of Living Organisms And Is Characterized...
Nazanin Valibeigi Discipline Awareness: Biology Section 1: Biology is the study of living organisms and is characterized as a science. A biological research paper is a method of presenting and interpreting data gathered by an investigator in an experiment or investigation. Brenna Cannon is a biology student at George Mason University and lab assistant in Dr. Geraldine Grant s lab who s research focuses on studying idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), which is an interstitial lung disease. This experiment more specifically studies ââ¬Å"the effect of transforming growth factor-beta, a protein naturally found in the body, on IPF fibroblasts versus normal lung fibroblastsâ⬠(Cannon, B.). This project functions as an example of how knowledge is produced in the biological discipline for the reason that it is a study on the physiological and anatomical effects of a disease that starts with a question that leads to an investigation. This results in data collected that is combined by background information from previous studies that will lead to conclusions. A majority of academic knowledge that is obtained within the field of biology is produced by the experimental method mentioned above. Section 2: The biology info guide is a great tool for research and gathering background information when conducting a scientific investigation by providing links for key scientific databases, academic journals, online encyclopedias, and booksShow MoreRelatedA Graduate Program Director And Committee Members1072 Words à |à 5 PagesCommittee members, I have always been interested in learning more about the underlying secrets of living organisms and it intrigued me to prefer Biology compared to other science subjects. I completed my undergraduate and MS degree from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Dhaka which is the top-ranked biology program of Bangladesh. For further studies, I decided to come to the United States because of the tremendous research facilities and funding, eclecticRead More Aristotle Essay779 Words à |à 4 Pagesnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;With the possible exception of Plato, Aristotle is the most influential philosopher in the history of logical thought. Logic into this century was basically Aristotelian logic. Aristotle dominated the study of the natural sciences until modern times. Aristotle, in some aspect, was the founder of biology; Charles Darwin considered him as the most important contributor to the subject. Aristotleââ¬â¢s Poetic, the first work of l iterary notice, had a string influence on the theory and practice of modern dramaRead MoreThe Study Of Evolution And Evolution1276 Words à |à 6 PagesTHE STUDY OF EVOLUTION ------------------------------------------------------ The study of Evolution has been a hot topic of controversy over the last two centuries. The definition of evolutionary biology itself generally refers to an area of biological study mixed with the study of the evolutionary processes that are produced by the diversity of life on Earth. This tour of centuries ago, the one you are about to take will help you gain a better understanding of not only those who haveRead MoreFinal Lecture Study Guide1085 Words à |à 5 Pagesï » ¿Bio 100 Lecture Final Study Guide (All answers are true or false) 1. All living things obtain energy from their environment. 4. The four organic macromolecule groups common to all living things are carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, and fats. 5. All living things are composed of one or more cells. 6. We cannot find separate branches of science in the past. Scientists of this time were not full generally as instructed as they could have been, yet their uncovering were ended up being genuine ordinarily, and have ended up theory and laws. This time was characterized enormously by the considerable somebody who lived and built up their general milieu (Reddington, 2015). The roleRead MoreThe Galapagos Islands1490 Words à |à 6 Pagesrepresent a living example of evolution that is still relevant today. For centuries, this chain of volcanic islands has been used uniquely by various cultures based off distinct needs. What has remained the same however is the fact that island isolation has forced many animal and plant species to adapt differently from one another based off their is landââ¬â¢s environmental conditions, creating a living model of microevolution over time. Today, these models tend to be the primary resources used by biology professorsRead MoreMajor Themes in the Theory of Evolution Essay2101 Words à |à 9 Pagesgas circling the sun condensed into the planets of our solar system. Fossils of primitive microorganisms show that life had emerged on earth by about 3.8 billion years ago. Similarly, the fossil record reveals profound changes in the kinds of living things that have inhabited our planet over its long history. Trilobites that populated the seas hundreds of millions of years ago no longer crawl about. Mammals now live in a world that was once dominated by reptilian giants such as TyrannosaurusRead MoreRole of Chemistry in Human Welfare1394 Words à |à 6 PagesChemistryà is theà scienceà ofà matterà and the changes it undergoes. The science of matter is also addressed byà physics, but while physics takes a more general and fundamental approach, chemistry is more specialized, being concerned with the composition, behavior (or reaction), structure, and properties ofà matter, as well as the changes it undergoes duringà chemical reactions.à It is aà physical scienceà which studies variousà substances,à atoms,à molecules,à crystalsà and other aggregates of matter whether inRead MoreLife Is Defined By All The Living Creatures On Earth1845 Words à |à 8 PagesLife is defined by all the living creatures on earth. Biology is a broad topic of the study of life. Biology contains many different types of subjects within it that may be studied, like terrestrial or aquatic animals, or viruses and diseases. Here I will be talking about twelve of the millions of parts: Characteristics of life and kingdoms, biomolecules, nature and the importance of water, cells, energy and the carbon cycle, cell division through mitosis and meiosis, the central dogma through DNA/RNARead MoreAnthropology and Its Branches1728 Words à |à 7 PagesAnthropology is the study of human beings, in particular the study of their physical character, evolutionary history, racial classification, historical and present-day geographic distribution, group relationships, and cultural history. Anthropology can be characterized as the naturalistic description and interpretation of the diverse peoples of the world. Modern-day anthropology consists of two major divisions: cultural anthropology, which deals with the study of human culture in all its aspects;
